Beautiful Ground Covers and So Much More!

When you hear the word "geranium" you may imagine annual flowers sold in flats at your local garden centre. However, those roundleaved, large-flowered annuals (pelargoniums) are not true geraniums at all.

Beloved by discerning gardeners, true geraniums are highly versatile hardy perennials. Their name originates from geranos, the Greek word for crane and refers to the plant's beak-shaped seed capsules. This is why the hardy geranium is also known as Cranesbill.

Everbloooming Hardy Geraniums are tough and durable, performing well in a wide variety of soils and settings–from full sun to partial shade. Easy to maintain once established, they are disease free and unloved by snails, slugs and deer. They will also tolerate very low temperatures.

Best of all, Everblooming Hardy Geraniums spread quickly into thick carpets of foliage and multiply vigourously year after year. Packaged with care for shipment directly to you at the proper spring planting time. Each top-quality geranium is a large, healthy #1 plant guaranteed to grow and bloom in zones 3-8.

Each collection includes 2 each of these Everblooming Hardy Geraniums:

Album... Produces elegant, 1/2", cup-shaped flowers of pure white. For a second act, the delicate, smooth-edged foliage turns crimson-red in autumn. Height: 6-10". Geranium sanguineum

Patricia... Magenta-pink petals darken to maroon, star-shaped centres. 3/4" blooms. Offers powerful visual impact against the handsome dark green foliage. Height: 12-18" Geranium endressi x psilostemo

Splish Splash... The delicate, 1/4" white cups are heavily splashed and banded with rich mauve-blue. Strong growing with a tidy form. Height: 18-24" Geranium pratense striatum

Ballerina... Award-winning Ballerina bears icy pink, 1 1/2" flowers highlighted by dark maroon veining and centres. Small, deeply divided, slightly tufted, grey-green foliage. Height: 5-7" Geranium cinereum

Johnson's Blue... Large, 1 1/2" to 2", saucer-shaped flowers of deep lavender-blue are tinged pink at the centres. Handsome, finely cut foliage turns orange and red in fall. Height: 12-18" Geranium himalayense x pratense

"I planted all these bulbs two years ago and only 3 came up and only one bloomed, but that on bloomed in the middle of the cold winter and that was a surprize and it is blooming again, a love blue with many more petals that was advertized."

Only half sprouted and smaller than I thought they would be. Only one of the five that survived actually produced flowers...expected much more!

geraniums Review by Joyce Killian - Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Posted on 2012-05-08 00:00:00

Not all of my plants took root. It's too soon to tell how they will bloom and spread so I am patiently waiting. It may be that kids trampled some of them.
