"These bloom late in the tulip season, but when they get started they last a SOLID 4 weeks and look great. They did just fine in my merciless, windy front yard. They are of course not true black in the sunlight (more of a dark, dark purple), but in the shady parts of the day, they do look black, especially against brighter flowers. These show best when surrounded by other flowers or foliage, since the dark is less dramatic against mulch. That can be tough, considering these emerge before most of the other perennials. Plan accordingly!"

"I have to say, I am impressed, compared to all the other tulip bulbs I planted these have bloomed the longest and my favorite part is they seem the be less attractive to the squirrels. Tall stems would make amazing cut flowers for vases."

I was a little worried if these would come up after the extremely harsh winter we had. It is now the end of May and they are all blooming! A very deep purple that adds an interesting element to the garden. I plan on buying more...just absolutely gorgeous!

A spectacular addition to the spring garden, Queen of Night Tulips live up to their name with their deep maroon colour.  With a shade as close to black as we've seen in a tulip, their intense, rich hue has to be seen to be believed. These Dutch sourced beauties are hand selected for their saturated colour, hardiness and sturdy stems. The traditional cup shaped flowers bloom in late spring, adding their deep, seductive colour to your landscape.

Queen of the Night tulip bulbs are easy to grow. Plant them in the fall, before the first frost. Place the bulbs about 3 inches deep and about 3 to 4 inches apart in well drained clay, loamy or sandy soil. Tulips thrive in zones 3 to 8 and prefer full to partial sun. These exotic perennial beauties grow 28 to 30 inches tall and will return to deliver a brilliant show every spring.

Strong, sturdy stems keep these flowers perky even during stormy spring weather, making them a great choice for borders. Add them to your cutting garden for striking floral arrangements. To showcase their extraordinary colour, surround them with soft pastel blooms like geranium and liatris or contrast them against pure white and red tulips. Add drama to your landscape with the Queen of Night tulip.
