When I first planted these, all my gardening friends in Tallahassee, FL questioned my intelligence because grape hyacinths don't usually bloom here. These are blooming now! I was amazed. The leaves fall over on their sides but the flowers are going strong. I can't wait to see if they will naturalize here, too. Great bulbs!
Stunning in yard!

We moved to NC in July in 2015. I planted the bulbs in late fall of 2015. Early this spring the flowers appeared and we had folks stopping in front of our house because they had never seen flowers planted in a yard before. Putting more in this fall. Just beautiful.

Create a flowering wonderland with the Blue Grape Hyacinth Super Sak. These dainty perennial charmers stand 6 to 8 inches tall and naturalize easily, providing masses of lovely bluebell-shaped flowers clustered like grapes atop an upright stalk. Blooming in mid-spring, their grassy foliage appears in the fall, making these an excellent ground cover or filler.

This variety of grape hyacinth is known as Muscari armeniacum, but these plants are so easy to grow that one variety is called Muscari neglectum. Just plant your Dutch grape hyacinth bulbs in the early fall in well-drained soil about 3 inches deep and 2 to 3 inches apart in clusters. They're hardy in zones 4 to 9, and they fare equally well in sun or partial shade. They can literally be neglected throughout the year—they do not need any special care and typically get plenty of water from natural rainfall.

Since grape hyacinth bulbs need so little attention and are excellent naturalizers, they are very well suited to lawn plantings and woodland gardens. They also make a beautiful no-maintenance ground cover or filler in areas under trees and shrubs. Add a few bulbs to spring blooming container plantings for a bright blue counterpoint to daffodils, or line a shaded path with the charming blooms in this Blue Grape Hyacinth Super Sak.
