Goes Great With

Old-fashioned, very double and sensationally showy blooms are produced in profusion throughout the season on an exceptionally hardy shrub. Bred specifically to thrive in colder climates, the 4' plant grows upright, lushly clothed in clean green foliage from top to bottom. Perfectly at home in a cottage garden or formal border, this outstanding variety attracts butterflies with its flamboyant flowers, which also enjoy a long life in cut-flower arrangements. Truly Hardy

I have had this rose about four years and am very pleased with it, and I can compare it to many roses I have tried growing over the last thirty years. The plant not only has sprays of pretty deep pink roses, it grows over six feet tall and has minimal winter die back! I am in the cold part of Zone 4, and above the snow only zone 3 rose branches survive so Party Hardy really is that hardy. The rose is also located under the eaves where six foot piles of snow accumulate when I shovel the roof in mid winter, and most of the rose canes survive, another sign of hardiness. It also does bloom lightly throughout the season and I recall a large spray of roses blooming in late fall, freeze-drying on the stem when the snow started. I have it planted on a north corner, with morning and late afternoon sun, so it might bloom more profusely if it had more sun. I have used the roses in bouquets, although they are not as pretty as the new hybrid tea roses (which have too high a mortality to be worth growing here.) I am sorry it has no scent, but other than that this is a great rose for the north.
