DescriptionGive your Garden a Grand Fall Finale!
A Whole New Ball Game
Breck's Garden Mums mature into tidy, ball-shaped, 8–12" plants, heavily blanketed in fluffy double blooms. They are a fragrant delight along a sunny to partially shaded walkway. Or put several varieties together in a container to create an eye-catching multi-coloured ball.
Garden Mums are a landscaping treasure—in the fall, when your neighbours' yards are tired and dull, you can easily set your garden apart with their vibrant, energetic colours. Grown in pots, their dense, rounded habits and brightly coloured blooms make a lovely, low-maintenance display. For a breath of fresh air, bring some mums indoors—they are known to filter out common air pollutants around the home.
Their striking beauty in containers and hanging baskets has led to grocery stores and garden centres selling garden mums as annuals, but they don't have to be. This hardy collection, planted in zones 6–9, with enough time in the ground to establish their roots before fall frosts, will provide carefree beauty year after year!
Chrysanthemum—The Age-Old Favourite!
Maybe you remember mums from the corsages at homecoming, or you think of the baskets for sale in the local grocery store. But these gorgeous perennials have been a cultural influence long before the big dance, and their reach spreads far past aisle 10! Depictions of mums date all the way back to Chinese pottery from the 15th century BCE. They are so prized in Japan, a yellow mum is featured on the Emperor's Imperial Seal. And on Mother's Day in Australia, all the good kids give mums to their Mum. So if you're falling in love with garden mums, you're certainly not alone—these beauties have a long history as a global sensation!
