Mountain of Flowers Daylily Collection

Mountain of Flowers Daylily Collection

It all started with a friendly chat about daylilies.

One day, while we were sitting in the Breck's office discussing our love of daylilies, someone mentioned a variety that produced more than the usual number of blooms. Within a few minutes, we thought of another one, and then the idea came to us: Why not identify the world's most prolific daylilies and put them together in one spectacular collection?

This unique daylily collection performs like no other!
Like most daylilies, the varieties in our Mountain of Flowers Daylily Collection are winter hardy in zones 3−9 and adapt to nearly any kind of soil—even clay. But while you might expect a couple of hundred blooms from the typical daylily, these produce as many as 16 stalks with dozens of blooms on each stalk—a grand total of up to 500 blooms per plant once they're mature. That's more than twice the blooms you'd get from ordinary daylilies!

This collection includes one each of the following varieties:

  • Wineberry Candy: Blooms grow to 5" in diameter and open for 16 hours or more. Multiple award-winning plant has orchid petals with a purple eye zone and a green throat. Grows 22" tall.

  • Buttered Popcorn: Elegant award winner yields large, scented, 6" flowers that are butter yellow with a small, green throat. Strong, healthy growth habit. Grows 32" tall.

  • Blackthorne: Light butter-yellow, recurving petals with a dark purple, ruffled edge and matching eye are displayed in 4½" blooms. The chartreuse throat adds striking contrast. Grows 26" tall.

  • Passion for Red: Huge, fragrant, 7" flowers are vibrant red with yellow eye zones and lovely rounded petals. Lots of buds, well-branched scapes and attractive foliage. Grows 27" tall.

  • Baby Moon Café:Creamy butter-coloured blooms have a perfectly rounded form with ruffled, recurved petals and a winepurple eye. Produces a profusion of fragrant flowers! Grows 22" tall.

  • Garden Show: Each of its many diamon-ddusted, lavender-mauve, 6" blooms has a conspicuous chartreuse throat and purple stamens. Ruffled, recurved petals open wide and flat. Grows 28" tall.

  • Early Snow: White, diamond-dusted blooms are accentuated by a shock of greenish yellow at the throat. Large, 7" flowers have ruffled, recurved petals. Grows 29" tall.
