Goes Great With

It all started with a friendly chat about daylilies.
One day, while we were sitting in the Breck's office discussing our love of daylilies, someone mentioned a variety that produced more than the usual number of blooms. Within a few minutes, we thought of another one, and then the idea came to us: why not identify the world's most prolific daylilies and put them together in one spectacular collection?

This unique daylily collection performs like no other!
Like most daylilies, the varieties in our Mountain of Flowers Reblooming Daylily Collection are hardy, growing from zones 3 to 9, in nearly any kind of soil. But while you might expect a couple hundred blooms from the typical daylily, these produce as many as 18 stalks with dozens of blooms on each stalk—a grand total of up to 500 blooms per plant once they're mature. That's more than twice the blooms you'd get from ordinary daylilies!

This collection includes one each of the following varieties:

  • Daring Deception: Ruffled, dusty pink, 5½" blooms feature dark purple eye zones, matching picotee edges and striking chartreuse throats. Grows 24" tall.

  • Mighty Chestnut: Uniquely warm and wonderful! Muted orange, 5½" blooms have a deep burgundy eye and gold throat. Grows 30" tall.

  • Exotic Candy: Sweet pink ruffles surround a deep rose eye and brilliant green throat. Blooms are 5" across. Grows 26" tall.

  • Midnight Raider: Large 6" blooms are lit from within by citron-yellow throats. Recurved petals of deep red-purple have a sparkly sheen. Grows 30" tall.

  • Collier: A standout in our test gardens, this polychrome variety boasts a beautiful blend of pink, gold, cream and yellow shades. Grows 28" tall.

  • Blackthorne: Light cream petals with a dark purple, ruffled edge and matching eye. A chartreuse throat provides an appealing colour contrast. Grows 26" tall.

  • Passion for Red: Huge, fragrant, 7" blooms open out nearly flat to reveal vibrant red and gold shades. Colours stay true, even in the summer sun. Grows 25−27" tall.
