Description

Did you know that iris is the Greek word for rainbow? It's true! And since there are seven essential colours that comprise a rainbow, it's only fitting that our Rainbow Iris Collection brings you seven exceptionally colourful varieties.

Colourful and Carefree!

Irises are some of the most stunning perennials you can plant—and also some of the easiest to grow! In late summer or early fall, simply plant your rhizomes 24" apart in sunsoaked or partly shaded, well-drained soil. Then, get set to watch a kaleidoscope of hues burst forth in mid to late spring.

Once planted, your bearded irises will be remarkably self-sufficient, giving you so much fuss-free beauty. Winter hardy in zones 4−9, irises multiply annually and will return year after year with greater abundance and more colour intensity.

A Cut Above the Rest

Irises are not only must-haves in the garden, they make long-lasting cut flowers, too! For the best bouquets, cut your irises early in the day when the buds are just opening. Place them in a bucket of tepid water, and re-cut the stems one inch higher, at an angle, keeping the stems under water as you cut.

  • Tolerates a wide range of soils.
  • Pest and disease resistant.

  • This collection includes 1 each of the following varieties:

  • Rio Rojo: When it comes to colour, form and vigour, this iris outdoes the other reds! Enjoy lavish ruffles and deep, glossy hues that won't lose their lustre. Grows 37" tall.

  • Tour De France: A triumph of perfumed blooms with outstanding flower form. Velvety petals shine with white standards turning pale yellow at the base and golden-yellow falls. Grows 35" tall.

  • Florentine Silk: Thanks to its rare blue-and-pink colour combo, broad form and plenty of ruffled blooms, this superior iris was awarded the prestigious Dykes Medal in 2012. Grows 35−40" tall.

  • Decadence: Lacy yellow standards gives this iris an air of royalty. Rich plumburgundy falls are heavily ruffled, with a ¼" band of creamy apricot. Grows 38" tall.

  • Fiesta in Blue: Celebrate spring with giant, 6" flowers in an intense blue hue! Blooms are energized with bouncy ruffles and excellent flower form. Grows 40" tall.

  • Sharped Dressed Man: This dapper fellow adds dramatic hues to borders. Fragrant blooms feature purple-violet standards and bright orange beards atop deep purple falls. Grows 36" tall.

  • Mango Entrée: Heavily ruffled flowers in a juicy mango hue are enough to make any iris lover ecstatic. Add in its easy-care nature and you have the perfect mid-spring iris! Grows 38" tall.
