Rainbow Iris Collection

Rainbow Iris Collection

Did you know that iris is the Greek word for rainbow? It's true! And since there are seven essential colours that comprise a rainbow, it's only fitting that our Rainbow Iris Collection brings you seven exceptionally colourful varieties.

Colourful and Carefree!
Iris is one of the most stunning perennials you can plant—and also one of the easiest to grow! In late summer or early fall, simply plant your rhizomes 12-24" apart in sun-soaked or partly shaded, well-drained soil. Then, get set to watch a kaleidoscope of hues burst forth the following spring.

Once planted, your Rainbow Iris will be remarkably self-sufficient, giving you so much fuss-free beauty. Winter hardy in zones 4-9, iris multiply annually and will return year after year with greater abundance and more colour intensity.

A Cut Above the Rest
Irises are not only must-haves in the garden, they make long-lasting cut flowers, too! For the best bouquets, cut your iris early in the day when the buds are just opening. Place them in a bucket of tepid water, and re-cut the stems one inch higher, at an angle, keeping the stems under water as you cut.

This collection includes one each of following varieties:

Dangerous Mood :With periwinkle blue standards and ruffled, midnightblack falls, this award winner gives a dramatic look to sunlit garden beds. Vigorous growth habit produces an abundance of blooms. Grows 36" tall.

Zesting Lemons:As refreshing as ice-cold lemonade! Lacey white standards have a yellow rim while lemon-yellow falls blend to white in the centre. Tangerine beards provide the garnish. Grows 36" tall.

Florentine Silk:Thanks to its rare blue-and-pink colour combo, broad form and plenty of ruffled blooms, this superior iris was awarded the prestigious Dykes Medal in 2012. Grows 40" tall.

Redneck Girl:A triumph of colour! Velvet, brick-red falls flare, while the claret standards add vibrancy. The blue beards are the finishing touch! Grows 36" tall.

Home of the Blues:This true blue, perfectly proportioned iris features gorgeous ruffles and a lovely fragrance. Spectacular growing in a group, or use it to line a walkway or in a foundation planting. Grows 32" tall.

Starring:Nearly black, velvety falls showcase pristine white standards for a stunning, high-contrast effect. Bright tangerine beards add a pop of colour to this frilly, mostly black-and-white delight. Grows 33" tall.

Innocent Star:An extravagant blend of vibrant purple, white and creamy yellow, there's no need to resist the urge to snip some flowers for spring bouquets. This reliable rebloomer will produce more later. Grows 35" tall.
