Rare Iris Hues for Your Garden
Irises, with their swirling standards and curling falls have given us some of the most dynamic, dramatic and thrilling colours in the garden— thanks to their hints and highlights, bitones and tritones, edges, lines and contrasts. In fact, iris means rainbow in Greek! This collection, filled with some of Breck's® most unique and rare iris colourations, will create a rainbow of breathtaking hues in your mid- to late-spring garden. Easy to grow. Long-lasting cut flowers.

Iris Anatomy 101
With literally thousands of variations of tall bearded iris in the world, it helps to identify these beautiful blossoms by their three main parts:

Standards: The three upper iris petals that stand at attention, curving to meet each other at their highest point. Standards can be ruffled or lacy, solid or multicoloured.
Beards: The fuzzy flower accents that look like colourful caterpillars! Beards not only give the bearded iris its name, they help guide pollinators to the treasure trove of nectar inside.
Falls: Often a contrasting colour to the standards, the falls consist of three downward curving petals that highlight the beards and complete the distinctive iris look!

  • Easy to grow
  • Winter hardy in zones 4-9
  • Thrives in sun to part shade
  • Long-lasting cut flowers

This collection includes 1 each of the following varieties:

  • Flying Solo: Graceful, pastel blooms are slightly ruffled and sweetly fragrant. The standards and style arms are peachy pink with a slight violet blush, while the falls are yellowish pink with faint apricot shoulders and rusty tangerine beards. Grows 26" tall.

  • Red Masterpiece: It has been a long road to breeding a true red iris, but the result is a real work of art! Each stalk yields 8-9 double-socketed buds for lavish, velvety wine-crimson blooms with glistening golden beards. Grows 40" tall.

  • Superstition: Spellbinding, ruffled blooms are deep purple-black with a touch of maroon, while blue-purple beards add to the magic of this stately iris. Well-branched stems have 10 buds each to produce a dramatic display of flowers. Grows 35" tall.

  • Decadence: Extravagant yellow lace on the standards gives this iris an air of royalty. The light plum-burgundy falls are edged with a ¼" band of creamy apricot, amplifying the effect of the lavish lace. Winner of the John C. Wister Medal. Grows 38" tall.

  • Stairway to Heaven: Like clouds drifting across a blue sky on a warm spring day, this iris evokes feelings of peace, calm and awe. Ruffled, creamy white standards and medium blue falls open on strong stems that produce lots of heavenly blooms. Grows 39" tall.

  • Disco Music: This apricot-orange sensation has been delighting iris collectors since the 1970s and has stood the test of time thanks to vivid colouring and an easy-care nature. Grows 36" tall.
