Description

A Colourful Choice for Feeding Birds, Butterflies and Bees!
Sedums, also known as stonecrops, are for smart gardeners who understand that flowering plants need not be flashy, costly or hard to grow to be enjoyed. They are beautiful and even breathtaking, yet unassuming. They are an affordable way to add flowers and foliage to large gaps in the landscape. And they require little more than a sunny location and well-drained soil to flourish. Just plant them and forget them!

Not only will your human visitors enjoy the sedums, but so will the butterflies, hummingbirds and bees that will come from miles around to sup on the delicious nectar filling their blooms. Leave the faded flowers in place over winter, and songbirds will eat the seeds while adding colour and joyous sounds for you to enjoy. What sedums will not attract, however, are foraging deer, which tend to avoid them.

Bountiful Blooms, Fabulous Foliage!
The delightful flowering plants in our new "We've Got That Covered" Sedum Collection are known for creating gorgeous, trouble-free ground cover. These reliable, low-maintenance wonders will transform any area where they are grown, but they are especially well suited for adorning rock gardens, slopes, border fronts and container gardens. Not only do they yield countless, colourful clusters of tiny, star-shaped flowers, they also form lovely, tidy habits of thick leaves and fleshy stems. So, prepare to be amazed at how much this selection will beautify your landscape—even when not in bloom!

Standouts in Your Early-Summer to Early-Fall Garden
Whether you call them sedums or stonecrops, these hardy perennials have a well-earned reputation as forgiving plants and are perfect for areas with hot, dry summers. Once established, they can endure too much sun, too little water and extreme temperatures while still producing lots of charming flowers and a carpet of lush greenery. They will thrive when planted almost anywhere there is at least some sunlight, spreading easily and producing a profusion of blooms throughout each summer.

Sedums are succulents, meaning their leaves store water that maintains the plants during drought. Young plants will need to be watered to establish their roots, but mature sedums will usually require only rainfall. They can handle frost and subzero temperatures as low as -20°F. Many varieties are evergreen, but some will lose their leaves and go dormant in winter. When spring arrives, they will burst onto the scene again with another round of pretty foliage and, within weeks, more bright flower clusters.

This collection includes one each of following three varieties:
  • Little Miss Sunshine Stonecrop: This ground cover sedum is ideal for filling gaps in rock gardens, covering slopes and livening up border fronts. Produces dark green, glossy foliage and a compact, tidy habit that yields many clusters of small, yellow flowers. Height: 6–8"
  • Superstar Stonecrop: It begins the season with dark turquoise, fleshy leaves swathed in smoky grey. Later, clusters of rosy-pink flowers with hot pink carpels spread over the dome-shaped habit. Dark purple seed heads then form to extend the period of colour. Height: 10–12"
  • Bundle of Joy Stonecrop: Dome-shaped plants known for their superior habit and diminutive stature become covered with attractive clusters of small, white flowers in late summer to early fall. An excellent option for container gardening and planting in sunny borders. Height: 10–12"
