About the Hybridizer
Based in Haarlem, The Netherlands, Janus works at his family’s nursery, A. Verschoor Horticulture, founded in 1956, where he has built an international reputation for pushing hardy perennials to new heights. His specialty is unmistakable: towering, architectural phlox bred for commanding presence, improved vigour and exceptional garden performance.
While giant phlox remains his signature achievement, Janus’ breeding expertise extends across the perennial border. He also holds patents on distinctive false sunflower, speedwell and yarrow varieties—plants selected for durability, strong garden character and pure flower power.
