DescriptionYou love them for the holidays, now enjoy them in the garden, too!
Amaryllis have long been an indoor favourite during the dreary winter months. Yet few American gardeners ever consider growing amaryllis in the garden. Until now most could not, so few know the pleasure these ethereal and graceful flowers offer. Breck's exciting Hardy Amaryllis varieties are especially well suited for growing in the garden in zones 6-9 with no lifting. They do just as well in zones 3-5, but should be lifted in the fall. As a Preferred Breck's Customer, you have unique access to these stately and exotic garden marvels.
We have collected together five distinct colour varieties of Hardy Amaryllis. Each offers unique beauty, charmingly elegant blooms and sustained longevity. Not too tall, not too short, they are just right for many places in your garden and make outstanding fresh-cut arrangements and bouquets. They are ideal for bringing new drama to your bulb beds, borders, around the patio or in containers. No matter where you choose to plant them, you will find they attract a great deal of attention.
These Hardy Amaryllis are truly unique and not available in stores. Each bulb sends up at least two stems bearing 4-6 exotic blooms each! Blooms reach 4-5" in diameter and make excellent cut flowers, lasting up to two weeks in a vase. Best of all, this sturdy variety grows to around 16" tall and requires no staking. Lift in zones 3 to 5.
Just plant with the nose of the bulb 2" below the soil surface, add a 2" layer of mulch and water regularly. For best results, place bulbs at the foot of a south-facing wall where they may receive maximum warmth from summer sunshine.
This collection includes 1 each of the following varieties.
- Balentino Hardy Amaryllis
- Helios Hardy Amaryllis
- Lollypop Hardy Amaryllis
- Orange Rascal Hardy Amaryllis
- Swan Lake Hardy Amaryllis
Our amaryllis can be grown in zones 3-9. When you live in zones 6-9 our amaryllis may be left in the ground all winter. Every year in late Spring they will return with renewed vigour to flower for weeks. They should be lifted if you live in zones 3-5.
