Breck's® Savory Coreopsis Collection

Breck's® Savory Coreopsis Collection

Spice Up Your Garden!

Beginning gardeners like coreopsis because these profuse bloomers are simple to grow and require little maintenance. Experienced gardeners like them because they are tough and drought tolerant. Friends and neighbors who visit your garden will adore their bright blooms and delicate-looking foliage. Butterflies and bees are drawn to the delicious nectar found in the cheery, daisylike blooms. During fall and winter, goldfinches and other small birds love eating the seeds of the faded flowers. While these and other creatures enjoy coreopsis, deer dislike their taste and tend to leave them alone when foraging for their next meal!

For our new Savory Coreopsis Collection, we chose four spicy-hot varieties that are sure to stoke the flames of your passion for gardening! These sun-loving, long-blooming plants not only add vibrant hues to beds, borders, planters and bouquets, they provide beautiful greenery with their compact, rounded habits. All four of these hybrids are perennials that will return year after year!

This collection includes one each of following varieties:
  • Hot Paprika: Rich, deeply red flowers measuring 1½" in diameter cover compact, uniform mounds of bright green, threadleaf foliage that provides an excellent textural background. Hot Paprika is particularly well suited for use in container gardens, borders of mixed perennials and cut-flower arrangements.
  • Curry Up: The vivid appearance of this variety makes it an instant and unforgettable attention-getter! Its golden-yellow, 1½" flowers have clear, dark red eyes and wide petals. The rounded, compact habit resembles a blanket of flowers when in bloom. Foliage is bright green and finely cut.
  • Zesty Zinger :Gorgeous light ivory flowers measuring 1½" across display dark magenta centres that spread towards the petal edges. The blooms cover a compact, rounded mound of bright green, threadleaf foliage to produce a colourful summertime show. PP29921
  • Red Hot Vanilla: This plant's brilliant blooms reach 1–1½" wide and are creamy white with a contrasting, dark red eye. As the flowers age, their eyes become larger until they make up most of the bloom! The grey-green, narrow foliage forms a domed habit that serves as an excellent backdrop to the bright flowers.
  • Crazy Cayenne: Its 1¾" blooms are fiery sunset orange with intense red-orange colouring concentrated along the centre of its petals. The undersides of the petals are golden yellow as are the stamens and some petal tips. Blooms open atop grey-green, threadleaf foliage to create a striking display.
