My Bartzella was bought at a nursery during Spring when flowering, we planted it two years ago and havenât had any flowers yet? But the plant grows and is a beautiful green. Why is is not flowering? Ty in advance

Your plant may take a few years to acclimate before blooming again. Also, peonies won't bloom if planted too deeply.

What do you recommend to treat white mildew on leaves and stems in the late summer or early fall??

Preventative fungicides can be applied when plants begin to appear in the spring (make sure to read and follow all label directions). It is important to note that fungicides will only protect unaffected foliage; once leaves become infected, little can be done (they won't get rid of an infection). Fungicides, however, are often not necessary to protect the health of the plant, and many gardeners choose to tolerate these diseases. Cut the plants down to the ground in the fall and be sure to clean up all plant material. You don't want the spores overwintering in leaf litter.

This peony is it sold by the root or is this a plant?

The Bartzella Itoh Peony is shipped as a two to three eye bare root plant.

In late fall is this cut down to ground & add side dressing of compost?

Bartzella Itoh Peonies can be cut to the ground in the fall. Side dressing with compost is a good practice.

I received this last fall and planted it. I live in zone 5 in northwest ohio. I put straw mulch around it. Left the top out of the ground 1 inch. Now it's beginning of April. My neighbors peonies are up and getting leaves but mine is not doing anything. Please help.

Hi Elizabeth. Peony roots should be planted about 1 to 2 inches below the soil level. If planted correctly, they should emerge in the spring. Newly planted bareroots tend to be slower to come up than established plants and different varieties pop up at different times. I would allow another few weeks. Planting InstructionsDig a hole large enough to spread out roots without bending them. Set crown with buds 1-2" below ground-level. Water in thoroughly. When planted in Fall: plant at least 6 weeks before ground freezes.
