Little Giant Arborvitae Hedge

As the name implies, Little Giant is compact for an arborvitae, rich in colour and with a lush and tidy growth habit. During the course of a year, it will first serve as a verdant backdrop for spring-blooming bulbs and then continue on as a defining structure in a garden's design through summer and into fall. Plant several to provide a corridor for neighborhood birds and a cool resting spot for insect pest-eating toads. It can block harsh, drying winds from evaporating the water in garden beds and create a calmer environment in which plants can grow. A row of them planted alongside a walkway or driveway will minimize snow-shoveling times. Zones 3–8.
