Calla Lily Collection

Calla Lily Collection

Ah, the beguiling beauty of calla lilies!

Breck's is thrilled to offer this exciting collection of calla lilies! Although not a true lily, these exquisite, tropical-looking flowers have long been favourites of gardeners and floral designers. Each large, elegant, funnel-shaped bloom is formed from a single luminous, waxy petal that wraps around a spiky pistil. The lanceolate, often speckled leaves and long, smooth stems add further to the calla's appeal.

A Wedding Day Tradition
White calla lilies are associated with wedding bouquets because they are said to bring good luck on the big day. But floral designers use callas of all colours, in large part because a freshly cut bloom can last up to two weeks. (Tip: Add a drop of chlorine to their water to keep callas fresh longer.) You'll want to grow plenty in the cutting garden, although they can also beautify beds, borders and—when grown in containers—patios and decks. They bloom for weeks during mid to late summer.

Callas Offer So Much, Require So Little
Many flowers become brown when past their peak, but calla lilies turn green and continue to look good until the blooms fade. Long after the flowers are gone, the foliage remains attractive, although the plants are unappealing to foraging deer and rabbits. The callas in this collection, and callas in general, require little upkeep, although they'll benefit from a monthly dose of Breck's Food for Bulbs and Perennials throughout the growing season. With varieties this stunning and colourful, you'll want to keep them around as long as you can!

This collection includes 5 varieties in beautiful colours:
  • California Red Stately, bell-shaped blooms display gorgeous, deep magenta hues with contrasting cream-yellow bases. Ideal for borders and containers, and long lasting in summer bouquets.
  • Crystal Clear: Its abundance of light green leaves beautify the landscape long after the snow-white flowers have faded. The blooms are perfect for any wedding bouquet.
  • Gold Crown: Bright yellow flowers are set off by the plant's attractive variegated foliage. The more warmth it gets, the better the blooms! Fantastic in a sunny border, garden bed or patio pot.
  • Grape Velvet: Regal, dark violet flowers complement the plant's eye-catching foliage, which is rich green. Make room for it in mid-border or in the cutting garden.
  • Odessa: Satiny, nearly black blooms add dramatic flair to containers and floral arrangements. The funnel-shaped flowers arrive just as other seasonal perennials start fading! PP18833

Shipping

Important Shipping Notes:

Breck's times its shipments from Holland so that bulbs and bareroots arrive at the proper planting time (depending on climatic conditions) for each area of North America. To promote optimum stress protection in transit and your success in the garden, bareroot perennials are kept in the ground in our nurseries until fully dormant. In the Fall, these plants tend to arrive at the later end of the shipping window below.

We will pack and ship your order based on the following schedules. The type of product you order or the weather may affect the anticipated shipping schedule below. Based on the contents of your order we always strive to ship your order complete, and as early as possible in the planting season to allow for the best root development once planted.
