Forelock Allium

Unique allium has a ‘tuft of hair’!

This towering plant, whose sturdy, green stems yields globular, purple-red flower heads with an unusual trait. As the 3" blooms progress, a group of white-tipped, deep red florets resembling a tuft of hair rises just above the inflorescence, giving it an egglike look. During Forelock’s blooming period, the white stamens on its tiny, star-shaped flowers become more visible throughout the entire flower head. This long-lasting, fragrant allium grows easily in any garden, and its remarkable size makes it a natural choice for the back of any border. Cannot be shipped to ID, WA.
