Trumpet lilies, also known as Aurelian lilies, are prized for the giant blooms, graceful form and bright colours they bring to summer gardens. The elongated flowers, which measure 4-5" across, grow on towering stems that reach 4-6' tall, making them recognizable from a distance. Due to the height of these lilies, the strong fragrance released by their elevated and plentiful blooms can perfume an entire yard. They come in an array of colours, and the reverse side of a bloom is often hued differently from the top. Trumpets reliably bloom in mid to late summer, returning each year with greater vigour and more of the exotic-looking flowers covering the plants. Popular in borders, we also suggest planting trumpets in groups of 3-5 to create spectacular focal points.
