For more than half a century, Breck's has proudly partnered with the Ammerlaan family of Breezand, a village in the province of North Holland renowned the world over for its ideal flower bulb-growing conditions. Today, Theo Ammerlaan continues that legacy alongside his son Bart and nephew Stan—two members of a new generation of Dutch growers dedicated to innovation and quality. At their family nursery, C.Th. Ammerlaan, tulips are more than just a crop—they’re a craft. While bulb growing has been part of the Ammerlaan heritage for generations, in-house breeding began about 30 years ago.

Theo and his family combine time-honoured techniques with modern breeding methods to develop tulips that are truly distinctive. Rather than selecting for common traits alone, they look for the extraordinary: unique colour patterns, refined flower forms, vigorous growth and dependable garden performance. Each new seedling is carefully observed over several years, and only a small number earn the right to carry the Ammerlaan name.
