A Vision in Lilac

Exceptional dahlia magically transforms from lilac to mauve to lavender-blue with the last blooms displaying white petals.

The most sensational sight in a summer garden! Dinner plate-size blossoms with masses of brilliantly coloured petals will be the pride of your garden.

Dinnerplate Dahlias are distinctive as backgrounds for borders and as decorative hedges. But they're also gorgeous for cut-flower arrangements. Each massive, long-lasting flower is a bouquet in itself. And the more you cut, the better the flowers bloom.

They're so easy to care for, too. After the flowering is done, just lift the clumps and store them for replanting the following spring. With a single investment, you'll have many years of Dutch beauty for your home and garden.

Love, love, love this dahlia. It is a prolific bloomer and at different stages the blooms at different and yet cohesive making for beautiful bouquets. This dahlia, in my experience, can get bigger than the stated 2-3 spread so give it lots of room. I would definitely recommend!!

It's no mystery: Who Dun It Dinnerplate Dahlias are simply striking. Atop their sturdy stems, you'll find blooms that reach up to a foot in size. If that's not enough to catch your eye, then investigate their gorgeous colour scheme. Pure white buds mysteriously mature into creamy ivory blossoms outlined in shades of lilac, mauve, lavender and indigo. You can look forward to this unique succession of colours from summer through the first frosts of autumn.

Despite their extra-large size, these flowers are very low maintenance. Plant them in the spring, about 2 inches deep in well-drained soil that's sandy, loamy, or clay. They prefer full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. Perennial dahlias do best in hardiness zones 3 to 10. To ensure that they survive winter, be sure to lift and store your dahlia flower clumps in the fall if you live in zones 3 to 7.

Reaching up to 4 feet in height, dahlia flowers make an excellent garden border. Highlight asters and yarrow with these enormous flowers or combine them with shorter dahlia varieties for a stunning fall garden. These extra-large blooms also make bouquet building easy: simply cut one, place it in a vase, and voila. Add a hint of subterfuge to your garden with colour-changing Who Dun It dinnerplate dahlias.
