A Tenacious Little Hot Poker Collection

A Tenacious Little Hot Poker Collection

Bright, Beautiful Flower Spikes Last into Fall. Compact habit, extra-long blooming time

Long-lasting, low-growing colour Small Flowers with Big Advantages
Red Hot Poker is an herbaceous perennial that is native to South Africa. Its sword-shaped leaves are reminiscent of a lily, while the flower spikes that crown its thick scapes produce multiple, drooping, tubular florets. The little hot pokers in A Tenacious Little Hot Poker Collection are not only compact, making them ideal for borders and container gardening, but they have a much longer blooming period!

Extended Flowering Period
The flower variously known as red hot poker, poker plant, tritoma, torch lily and Kniphofia, its genus, blooms for about three weeks before stopping. The Poco™ Little Hot Poker hybrids in this collection were bred to have an extended blooming period, producing a myriad of spikes densely packed with tubular flowers in warm shades of red, orange and yellow from midsummer into mid fall!

Great for Limited Spaces
These diminutive darlings also form a compact habit of grasslike foliage, from which emerges flower stems reaching about half the height of the original's 36–48" stems. The smaller size of the plants makes them ideal for gardens with limited space, border fronts and even patio pots. What's more, they're simple to grow, deer resistant and alluring to hummingbirds and other pollinators! Grow in zones 6–9.

This collection includes 1 each of the following varieties:

  • Poco™ Orange Little Hot Poker: Individual, tubular blooms create an orange flower spike atop each stem. Named "Best & Brightest" at Walt Disney World® Bedding Plant Trial Program Warm Season 2016.

  • Poco™ Yellow Little Hot Poker: The upright, spiky leaves form an unremarkable mound until the flower spikes push through and rise above the foliage. Spikes bear lots of light yellow, tubular flowers.

  • Poco™ Red Little Hot Poker: Produces large number of long-lasting, fiery red flower spikes. Great in small gardens, borders, patio containers and other limited spaces. Needs little water but lots of light.
