DescriptionThe perfect solution for sunny slopes and dry or rocky borders
Creeping sedums, also known as stonecrops, create solid mats of foliage that spread quickly to cover the landscape and control weeds and erosion. And the best part is they ask for so little in return! Just plant your sedums in a sunny spot and watch them take off! Lovely in containers, sedum foliage will cascade over your favourite pots. Or plant them in the fronts of borders to hold year-round interest before and after shorter-lived bulbs and perennials have finished blooming.
Low-growing, low-maintenance sedums are perfect plants for those who don't have a lot of time to tend to their garden. Not only do they suppress weeds, but they continue to thrive even when neglected!
Sedums love the sun and are extremely drought tolerant. They are not fussy about soil, but do require adequate drainage. Sedums are not bothered by disease, are rabbit resistant, and their late-summer blooms attract butterflies.
You'll be amazed at how well your sedums will fit in and fill in areas you thought would never have colour. In fact, here are just a few places to try your easy-care creeping sedums:
The Creeping Sedum Collection provide trouble-free colour and texture for even the most troublesome, drought-prone areas of your landscape.
This collection includes one each of the following varieties:
Sieboldii: Gorgeous leaves are blue-green with a pink edge that intensifies in summer. In early fall, starshaped, bright pink flowers appear, followed by one more colour show as the leaves turn shades of pink, red, yellow and orange! Grows 6-10" tall.
Cauticola: The lowest-growing sedum in our collection! Rounded, blue-green leaves tuck into your smallest garden spaces. In late summer, pink flowers that age to a rich, carmine red add even more interest. Grows 2" tall.
Lime Zinger: Apple-green foliage edged in cherry red forms a tight weed-suppressing mat like no other! Soft pink flowers bloom above the leaves from late summer to early fall. Grows 4-6" tall.
Firecracker: Positively packed with foliage. Dense-growing variety features burgundy leaves with a hint of mint green. Makes an eye-catching groundcover, with vibrant pink flowers adding even more colour in early fall. Grows 6" tall.
Fulda Glow: Unusual bronze-red foliage keeps its colour all season long. In late summer, red flowers appear on short stalks above the carpet of colourful succulent leaves. Stunning when planted en masse. Grows 4" tall.
